Terms of Service
LAST_UPDATED · APRIL 20, 2026
> AGREEMENT
Agreement
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of SealedPDF (the “Service”), operated by SealedPDF (“we,” “us”). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
> WHAT_THE_SERVICE_IS
What the Service is
SealedPDF is a collection of PDF tools that run in your web browser. Most tools operate entirely on your device and do not transmit your PDF files to us. A small number of tools (currently PII redaction and contract analysis) transmit extracted plain text to a scanning service as described in our Privacy Policy.
> ACCOUNTS
Accounts
You must provide a valid email address to create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your sign-in credentials and for everything that happens under your account. Notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
> PLANS_AND_PAYMENT
Plans and payment
The Free plan includes 5 tool operations per calendar month and adds a small “SealedPDF” watermark to exported files. The Solo plan is $39 per month for unlimited operations and no watermarks. The Firm plan is $79 per seat per month and adds matter-based organization. Paid plans renew automatically until cancelled.
Payments are processed by Stripe. You authorize Stripe, on our behalf, to charge your payment method for all fees incurred. Prices are in US dollars and exclude applicable taxes, which may be added at checkout.
> REFUNDS_AND_CANCELLATION
Refunds and cancellation
You may cancel your paid plan at any time from your billing page; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We offer a full refund within 14 days of your first paid charge if the Service does not meet your needs — contact us at the address below and we will refund that charge.
> ACCEPTABLE_USE
Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Process content you do not have the legal right to process
- Attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or reverse-engineer the Service, or to access it by means other than the documented interfaces
- Attempt to circumvent the Free tier operation limit, the watermark on Free-tier outputs, or any plan-level feature gate
- Resell, white-label, or otherwise offer the Service to third parties as if it were your own product
- Use the Service to violate any applicable law
> USE_IN_LEGAL_PRACTICE
Use in legal practice
SealedPDF is a software tool. It is not a law firm, and using it does not create an attorney-client relationship. Nothing the Service produces is legal advice.
The PII redaction and contract analysis tools are designed as a first pass. They will miss things and they will flag things that should not be flagged. If you use them in legal proceedings, you are responsible for independent attorney review of every output. We make no representation that these tools detect all personally identifying information, all privileged content, or all risky contract terms.
> YOUR_CONTENT
Your content
You retain all rights to the PDF files you process with the Service. Because most tools do not transmit file contents to us, we never receive a license to your documents for those tools. For tools that transmit extracted plain text (PII redaction, contract analysis), you grant us a narrow, transient license to process that text solely to return the requested result; we do not retain, train on, or share the text.
> OUR_CONTENT
Our content
The Service's software, design, name, and documentation are owned by us or our licensors and are provided to you under these Terms. You may use the Service for its intended purpose; you do not receive any other license to our intellectual property.
> SERVICE_AVAILABILITY
Service availability
We do our best to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. We may update, modify, or discontinue features at any time. For material reductions in functionality to a paid plan, we will offer a prorated refund.
> DISCLAIMER_OF_WARRANTIES
Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. You use the Service at your own risk.
> LIMITATION_OF_LIABILITY
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability under these Terms is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, even if advised of the possibility.
> INDEMNIFICATION
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims arising out of your use of the Service in violation of these Terms or of applicable law.
> TERMINATION
Termination
You can stop using the Service at any time and delete your account. We can suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these Terms; where practical we will give notice and an opportunity to cure.
> CHANGES_TO_THESE_TERMS
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes, we will give notice by email or by a notice in the Service at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after that date constitutes acceptance.
> GOVERNING_LAW
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. The state and federal courts located in Delaware have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms.
